The Least of These by Josh was one of the first stories that captivated me at Nifty and is one of three or so that caused me to long to tell my own stories. I’ve read it many times, spoofed it, and never tire of the loving and sexy story of Davey and Mike’s lifelong love.

It’s not listed at BoN (though Wednesday Boy is) but the same holds true, to me, for Keith Morrisette’s The Boyfriend. Very down-to-earth, enjoyable and worth reading and rereading.

Dancing To The Music of Their Hearts by Nick Turner was also one of the stories I found early in and which has stayed with me.

Working it Out by Don Hanrady also fits this category and, despite some ‘Nifty-esque’ stereotypes, this story manages to stand high above the herd, mainly due to the narrative skills of the author and the, well, let’s face it—hot sex.

For The Love of Pete by Dewey was another of the first stories that caught and trapped into reading more at Nifty. The sex is either implied, long delayed or nonexistent but the love story against all odds is one you’ll never forget. Beautiful and poignant.

Corbusier, Free To A Good Home and Back To The Playground by Java Biscuit. I love the prose style, the characters and think most readers would, unless they found the age differences between the characters objectionable. Java Biscuit no longer writes, at least online as Java Biscuit, which I consider a great misfortune. The ten or so tales, two unfinished, that exist online are worth searching out to read.

Brown-Eyed Boy by Savoir Faire is a story with a thoroughly unlikable character who behaves abominably…and yet the tale is irresistible and unforgettable. All the stories of Savoir Faire are worth reading…and rereading.

Story of Tim by Jack Rowan. Yes, it’s BDSM and involves a teenager and adult, but if you can get past that (or like that), it’s hot, it’s fantastically written with a wonderful storyline. It’s a love story I will never forget.

Leaves and Lunatics by EleCivil is beautifully and delicately written, as all his tales are, and this is one no discerning reader should miss. Charming and likable characters, exquisite love relationships and the perfect grasp of prose that EleCivil is known for. If you haven’t yet, be sure to read it.

And if anyone’s interested, I think my best story at BoN is Some Enchanted Evening: this ghostly story moves through the years of the early 20th century to bring unlikely young lovers together.

Thank you for your thoughtful list.

Josh Maxwell was one of my early finds, with "Masquerade", and it was his emotional courage that
drew me in, and I followed his perceptions where guts alone would have never taken me. Hard to say
whether that or sexuality was his genius, probably depends on what you want, will tolerate, or how far you're
willing to go. My commitment to the wealth of talent to be found in these woods certainly started with having
my socks knocked off, and prevented an early drowning in Nifty ocean.

After sounding off about Modesty, and the reluctance of writers to mention their own work in their
list, here you are, with your head on straight lipssealed.gif about that whole thing. You are a delight,
and I will certainly take your recommendation to heart.

So, you are vwl and Tragic Rabbit? I have to be reminded continually that names and other forms of
association are not the absolute representation that I considered them to be, and that I do not want
to know what nonsense I use to construct your faces. confused.gif

No, vwl is not TR. I'm TR and that's my post from when we were all asked for our personal BON lists back in 2006. Dunno why it says from vwl, except that he is in charge of BON.

My stuff, aside from BON, is temporarily offline because I'm working on some publishing aspects of my business attempts.

When I have more to say, I'll be happy to post it -- should be within a month or so. Health issues again, alas.

Kisses...

I kinda figured i'd be eating that one. Welcome to my world, full of wonder, but always with it's share of crossed wires.

Best of everything with publishing, and at the very least, respite from your health issues. I'm a Lab Tech, and I could say the same thing in general about the body we live in as I said of my world above.

Thanks for your reply, I hope there was a chuckle in here for you. omg.gif
